Willie Nelson – One Hell of a Ride

    May 28, 2008

Willie Nelson, an entrancing enigma in the music world, has come out with a four-CD (yes, you read that right, four-CD) outing that contains 100 songs from 1954 to the present, showcasing his array of musical armaments. A rendition of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”, which was in fact composed by Willie Nelson, is included in the CD. A clearcut art piece in country music today, the track is joined by other staples such as “Funny How Time Slips Away”.

There are however only a few rare materials in the compilation. The collection however embraces Willie Nelson as a musician and as a personality. The track list starts with “When I’ve Sung My Last Hillbilly Song”, which was ironically Willie Nelson’s first record, and ends with the same track, re-recorded and remastered. The 4-CD set is more than just a music CD, as commentaries are included in a 100-page booklet. The set also highlights Willie Nelson’s career in a way, his relationships and works with fellow artists, and how his musical talent just seemed to just grow exponentially throughout the years, always coming out with original material that is truly his and his alone.
