One of Nashville’s most talented session drummers, the legendary Buddy Harman has recently passed away due to congestive heart failure last Thursday. Harman was one of the most pivotal country music performers who have defined the “Nashville Soundâ€. He was 79.
Harman has been part of close to 20,000 recordings, heavily contributing to music across genres. His drum work can be heard in the Everly Brothers’ “Cathy’s Clown†as well as in many of Elvis Presley’s soundtrack works. Buddy Harman was also a part of recordings by Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis. Among country music giants, Harman has worked with Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, Tammy Wynette, Patti Page, Chet Atkins, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, and many many others.
During his prestigious and illustrious career, Buddy Harman was a regular on the Grand Ole Opry. The Academy of Country Music also gave the Drummer of the Year award to Buddy Harman back in 1981.
